Description
Ferric Chloride, also known as Iron(III) Chloride, is a powerful inorganic coagulant commonly used in water and wastewater treatment. It is available in both solid (anhydrous flakes) and liquid forms. Upon dissolution, it hydrolyzes to form ferric hydroxide, which effectively removes suspended solids, phosphorus, heavy metals, and organic matter through coagulation and flocculation. It is also used as an oxidizing agent in industrial processes, and as an etchant in electronics manufacturing. Ferric Chloride is highly effective across a wide pH range and suitable for municipal, industrial, and commercial applications.

| Electronics Grade | High-purity for PCB etching and microelectronics | ≥98% (solid) |
| Industrial Grade | For dye, pigment, and chemical manufacturing | 40%–45% (liquid); ≥95% (solid) |
| Customized Grade | Adjusted iron content, impurity levels, or form as per requirements | As requested |
Applications
- Water & Wastewater Treatment: Efficiently removes turbidity, phosphorus, COD, and heavy metals.
- Electronics Industry: Used as an etchant for copper in printed circuit boards (PCBs).
- Metallurgy & Mining: Aids in ore processing and wastewater from smelting operations.
- Chemical Industry: Catalyst and reactant in pigment and dye production.
- Textile Industry: Fixes dyes and improves colorfastness.
Advantages
- Strong and fast coagulation performance
- Broad operating pH range (4–12)
- More effective than alum for phosphate and heavy metal removal
- Lower dosage compared to some traditional coagulants
- Cost-effective and widely available
Storage
Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area. Avoid contact with incompatible substances such as strong bases and reducing agents. Use corrosion-resistant containers and avoid long-term exposure to air and moisture. Wear protective gear when handling.
